This design harkens back to the vintage samplers from the 1940s and 50s, when stamped cross stitch was common. The motifs were simpler, but pretty and the verse was more folksy or words of wisdom rather than Bible verses. I picked a simple, yet vibrant color palette to help the motifs come alive.
This design is charted in both NPI silks and DMC. If you are new to silks, this floss pack will be the perfect “starter set” for you, with some of the basic colors found in many designs. The NPI silk floss pack is sold through Fat Quarter shop and you can find it here: Friend to All NPI Pack
The model is stitch on 36 ct Mocha linen by Weeks Dye Works using 1 strand of NPI silk over two linen threads. I think this design would look lovely on just about any color of fabric!
I have provided two PDFs for this design. The first one contains the PDF in black and white and color charts, plus the cover page and footer page with photos, thread sorter, key and thread usage pages. The second one is a stripped down version for Pattern Keeper. It is the one titled JHC_OdetoPeacock_PatternPK. It contains only the black and white chart and the key, making it easy to upload to Pattern Keeper.
